A walkathon with a difference in RAK

An interesting walkathon is scheduled to unfold in Ras Al Khaimah on November 9.This walkathon is different because it involves the participation of diabetics. The event is being organized by the NMC Royal Medical Centre in collaboration with the RAK Police Department and the RAK Public Services Department. The event is also perceived to be a commemoration of World Diabetes Day 2018.

The event is expected to raise awareness about the condition of diabetes, its symptoms, causes and preventive measures not to mention the significance of an early diagnosis. The organisers of the event have said that the participants are expected to come from all over the UAE. Moreover, various institutes and organisations are also expected to take a proactive stand in the event.

The world Diabetes Day was launched in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organisation (WHO). The measure was initiated in response to the growing instances of diabetes. The theme this year is ‘Diabetes concerns every family’.
