Abu Dhabi’s environment agencies have encouraged residents to use a new app that gives real-time information on air quality. The free tracker is designed to ascertain the levels of pollution and is expected to be very popular among users. The Plume Air Report app will lend users a unique opportunity to monitor air quality both in real-time and 24 hours ahead. This will lend greater flexibility to users in avoiding areas that have high levels of pollution.
On Monday, users of the app found pollution levels in Dubai to be ‘excessive’ while Abu Dhabi was found to be ‘high’. The launch of the app comes in the wake of reports that revealed that the air quality in UAE was found to be similar to that of industrialized cities.
Authorities say that the App relies on data that is fed into it by the EAD who measure the pollution levels at 20 designated spots and two mobile stations. The readings offer insights into the levels of ozone, nitrogen dioxide and various matter like ash, dust and sea spray.
