Abu Dhabi speed buffer to be removed in next two days

With the Abu Dhabi authorities removing the 20 kmph speed limit buffer in the next two days, motorist on the city’s roads will have to exercise caution in not flouting the speed limit even by a slight margin. In an earlier announcement, the Abu Dhabi police had said that speed limits on the capital city’s roads will be revised and motorists will now have to comply strictly with the set speed limit.

The speed limits on the internal roads and highways will also be covered under the new rules from August 12. However, select roads in Abu Dhabi will have the prevailing speed limits even after the buffer has been disposed with.

The Abu Dhabi Police put out a statement on twitter that said the speed limit on the Abu Dhabi – Al Ain Road and the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed highway (Al Mafraq – Al Ghuweifat Road) will remain at the designated 160kmph. They said that the removal of the speed limit buffer will have no effect on the set speed limits on these roads which are renowned to be among the fastest in the country.
