As part of a broader strategy to establish the Emirate of Abu Dhabi as a global destination for medical tourism, the Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT) has entered into an agreement with the Medical Tourism Association (MTA) that will facilitate the establishment of the capital city as a destination that will be preferred by people who seek top quality medical treatment.
As part of the strategy, authorities in Abu Dhabi are putting plans into place to attract highly qualified doctors thus boosting the city’s capability to offer specialized medical services. Moreover, the measure will also ensure that people who are residing in the city need not travel overseas to seek better medical treatment.
The partnership also dictates the target markets which will fall under the ambit of the scheme like China, Russia and other Middle Eastern countries. However, the long term goals of the scheme are to rein in the best doctors and inspire them to work in the city on a rotational basis.
