An estimated Dh 50 m has been given by Abu Dhabi University (ADU) in scholarships to needy and outstanding students. More than 1500 students have benefited from the university’s Zakat fund that seeks to help those who are battling financial hardship. The scholarships are an annual affair undertaken by the ADU and was first launched in 2010.
The initiative has been a resounding success since it was launched and has collected Dh 50 m from Zakat and other contributors. The scholarships enable deserving students across the ADU’s campuses in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Al Ain. The scholarship programme is a reflection of ADU’s role in sustaining the educational stability of the UAE.
The scholarship programme this year is also in line with the celebrations of the Year of Zayed. Moreover, the programme upholds the values that were promoted by the late Founding father. These values would go a long way in upholding the scholastic credentials of the UAE and will develop its education sector.
