If you are a librarian working in the UAE, this is the right time to send in your nominations for the third School Librarian of the Year annual award. The nominations are open to librarians working in both private and government schools. The award is in its third edition this year and is aimed at encouraging librarians and highlighting their role in promoting the good habit of reading among children. The award is open in two categories, one for librarians working in private institutions and another for those who are employed in public schools.
All those who send in their nominations will be registered for a one-day long professional development session at the Sharjah International Book Fair/American Libraries Association conference scheduled to be held in November 2019. Those who send in their nominations before November 15 will also have the opportunity to participate in a lottery draw. Three lucky winners will win tickets to the 2019 Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, where they will also be honored at a ceremony. The award is a joint venture between the Emirates Literature Foundation and The Executive Council of Dubai. Nominations can be entered online at elfdubai.org/en/librarian-award in either Arabic or English by December 9 this year.
