Basic CPR awareness can be useful in saving lives

In a move that aims to provide basic CPR awareness to residents, Cleveland Clinic, Abu Dhabi, has come up with the concept of a roadshow set up at public spaces like shopping malls and other areas that residents frequent across the UAE. This move comes as a part of a health education campaign that will continue till the end of this year.
Doctors in the UAE are of the opinion that many precious lives can be saved in the country if only people have the basic knowhow on how to carry out cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training. This knowledge becomes even more vital because of the fact that the first 10 to 15 minutes of a medical emergency can mean the difference between life and death, especially in cases like strokes, accidents and heart related ailments. The roadshow will educate residents on the necessity of seeking or providing medical attention within the time frame that is considered to be critical.
CPR is a relatively simple process that can be easily learnt yet this simple proves can sometimes deliver a stricken person from death. Compared to the west, more people in the UAE who fall prey to cardiac arrests do not get CPR, which is because of the lack of awareness.
The roadshow will have its first session at the Abu Dhabi mall where the team will demonstrate to the public on how carry out chest compressions that can keep the heart pumping thus saving on valuable time until the arrival of emergency services. The team comprises Cleveland Clinic’s certified trainers
