The momentous occasion is almost at hand. The UAE’s first indigenously built satellite, the KhalifaSat, is all set to be launched from Japan tomorrow. The satellite is already on the launcher and is waiting for the final phase that will see its lift-off from the Japanese island of Tanegashima. The event will be live streamed beginning at 8 am while the launch is scheduled to kick start at precisely 8.08 am.

The satellite is the most advanced earth observation satellite every built by the engineers of the UAE. The live stream is expected to be watched by millions of earth denizens.
The satellite is fully equipped to take high quality images which will be relayed to the UAE government absolutely free of charge. However, the images will be given to international organizations for a cost. The images will be relayed free of cost if the cause is humanitarian. The satellite will perform the additional task of evaluating local and global environmental conditions which will promote the goals of environmental sustainability.
