On Friday morning, alarm bells rung as a huge blaze ran amok in a dhow that was docked at the Dubai Creek.
In the wake of the fire, thick black smoke was seen emanating from the Deira skyline. It is reported that the fire started in the wee hours of the morning. However, timely action by authorities ensured that the blaze was quickly put out with no casualties.
Firefighters from the Port area, Karama, Hamriya and Al Ras fire stations converged on the site of the mishap located opposite to the Hyatt Regency Dubai Creek Heights.
The dhow fire caused thick smoke because it was crammed with flammable materials such as tyres, petroleum and diesel.
