A book on the most magnificent mosques of the world authored by an Azerbaijani writer has acknowledged the splendor of the Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi as the most distinct in the world. ‘Mosques: Splendors of Islam’, authored by Leyla Uluhanli has named the Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque as one of the most iconic Islamic monuments of the century.
The book’s launch in Dubai will coincide with the Year of Zayed and is already available at leading bookstores around the world, with a French edition slated to be released soon. The author hails from Azerbaijan and her book reflects the deep impact of her Islamic roots. The book is a culmination of her overwhelming interest in Islamic culture and is the outcome of years of concerted research.
A major fraction of the proceeds from the book’s sale will go towards the public collections at Juma Al Majid Centre for Culture and Heritage, Shaikh Mohammed Centre for Culture and Understanding and other cultural centres and libraries across the UAE, aimed at facilitating the dissemination of Islamic heritage.
