Contaminated water in the towers of Ajman

YELLOW, FOUL SMELLING WATER COMING FROM THE TAPS OF HORIZON BUILDING IN AJMAN

Around 190 residents of Horizon Tower in Ajman, were reported sick with similar symptoms- high temperature, upset stomach and diarrhoea. The residents had been complaining of receiving foul smelling water from their taps, which had then changed to a sickening yellow colour. The acting director of the health and safety section at the municipality- Humaid Al Mulla, confirmed that the underground tanks that carried tap water, had been contaminated by a leak in the sewage system. The residents who used this water not only for drinking but also just for washing dishes, or even came in contact with the smell had to rush to the hospital. No incidents of death have been reported but a few of the patients were directly sent to the ICU.

The water system in the Ajman towers have now been completely sterilised and are safe to use. The analysis that was conducted yesterday proved the water is clean for usage. The Crown Prince of Ajman- Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, set up a panel to look into this disastrous situation that caused fatalities which luckily weren’t far from rescue. The panel has been commissioned to dive into the actual cause that led this to happen, and a solution to it. The company that runs the tower has supplied the residents with 5,000 cartons of drinking water. Patients who couldn’t afford the treatment have been provided with free care from the Ajman Hospital.
