Henceforth, the Dubai – Al Ain Road will be renamed after Shaikh Tahnoun Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler`s Representative in Al Ain Region. The measure has been initiated to keep in line with the directive that have been issued by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
This route is one of the most busiest and vital routes in Al Ain city and serves as a vital link to Dubai city. It also is used to service other areas like Al Hayer and Al Faqa’a. Moreover, this route also leads to the city of Sharjah through the Al Shwaib Area to Al Madam. The route with meets global standards was constructed to accommodate more than 7000 vehicles per hour in each of the directions.
In 2010, the route underwent some renovations which were carried out in two successive phases. The first phase dealt with the route from Al Towayya area to Al Masaken, a 23 Km stretch which comprises of three lanes in each direction. The second phase involved work on the Al Masaken to Al Faqa’a area, a 42 km stretch boasting of four lanes in each direction.
