Dubai customs conducts awareness programme for children on wildlife protection

In an inventive measure, the Dubai customs are seeking to make children more environmentally conscious by holding an awareness programme about the significance and importance of wildlife conservation. The programme being held at the Modhesh World 2018 at World Trade Centre, will enlighten young minds about animals that are critically endangered and the various aspects of wildlife protection.

The programme that will be held from August 3 to August 16 is also showcasing confiscated consignments of ivory and other wildlife paraphernalia in order to raise awareness on the detrimental effects of poaching. The programme will also include a string of educational measures that will focus on conservation and the fight against intellectual property rights infringements.

The UAE has always been a vociferous proponent of wildlife conservation and as part of a major clampdown on wildlife trafficking, the Dubai Customs and Dubai Police have seized 1,849 pieces of ivory at Dubai International Airport in the last couple of years.
