Dubai government waives this fee

In a fresh move, the Dubai government announced yesterday that it would do away with a mandatory requirement that was needed for event organisers, hotels and toursim companies.

The new regulations state that these organisations will now no longer have the need to get a Public Relations Officer Card. The new development was announced by the the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism).

Untill now, the PRO card was one of the pre-requisites that enabled these entities to carry out transactions like requests for the issue of permits and other approvals for tourism related activities. From now on, the tourism and hotel entities can submit their applications through the Dubai Tourism website. This will not just translate into reduced costs but will also save the companies’ valuable time. The PRO card was available at a cost of Dh 1000.

The waiver of the rule is percieved as a move that is line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, that aims to propel Dubai into a smart city that relies on a paperless strategy.
