Dubai International Airport to close one of its runways in 2019

Dubai International Airport (DXB), the world’s busiest international airport, will be closing one of its two runways for 45 days in 2019, announced Dubai Airports, operator of the emirate’s two international airports, on Monday.

The southern runway of Dubai International Airport will be closed from 16th April to 30th May 2019, to conduct a comprehensive upgrade for resurfacing and replacement of ground lighting and other infrastructure, designed to boost safety, service and capacity levels. The partial closure will mean a reduction in capacity, as airlines will have to scale back their operations during the 45 days of runway closure.
