Dubai Police is trying to reunite a 6-month old baby with the mother. A European woman who was forcibly separated from her baby by her husband had sought help from Dubai Police. On inquiry, the woman revealed that the baby was taken away from her home by the husband, a GCC national while she was at work.
Lt Col Rashid bin Zabawi al-Falasi, head of the criminal investigation department at the Dubai Police said that the woman – who is in her thirties – contacted the victim care department to get back her baby.
The mother lives in the UAE and works in a ladies salon. She had been married three years ago and gave birth to the baby six months back. The couple was living separately due to some marital discord that arose after the birth of the baby.
The lady told the police that she was staying with her mother and her 14-year-old brother and her husband used to visit her house while she was at work. He asked her brother to go out and get him some stuff from the supermarket and when her brother left the home he took away the baby after collecting the necessary papers and left the country.
The woman said that she is going through trauma after her husband refused to return the child to her and there was no way to see the baby, as she didn’t know details of his residence in his country.
She has sent a complaint to the authorities concerned, who have assured her their help. “The Dubai Police are providing support to the mother and trying to find a solution for the problem through legal channels,” said al Falasi.
