Dubai school shuts down owing to virus epidemic fears

Following an airborne virus epidemic scare, a primary school in Dubai shut its doors for two days. The school that houses more than 5000 students announced the decision in the wake of around two dozen children afflicted with signs of nausea, vomiting and bodyache.

The school, Kindergarten Starters, an Indian curriculum school from Gems Education, has issued a circular to the parents of all the students and said that the school would be shit on April 10 and 11 while cleansing was being carried out within the school and its classrooms.

Fears of an epidemic outbreak surfaced after a few students reportedly threw up and complained of severe body pains. The school immediately reported the matter to the KHDA, DHA and Dubai Municipality. Classes are expected to resume from April 14 after an external company has been contracted to carry out cleaning and fumigation of the premises.
