Dubai teen walks away with World Scholar’s Cup

Yet another enterprising teenager from Dubai proved that when it comes to academic excellence that shines on a global stage, students from UAE always emerge as winners. The 13-year old student from a Dubai school prevailed among more than 3000 students from 55 countries to win the coveted World Scholar’s Cup held in Barcelona, Spain.

Vishnumaya Deepakchandran, a ninth grade student at GEMS Modern academy, made the country proud when he nailed the tough competition to win the top accolades. This enterprising student won the top slot in the junior category. He attributes his success to the competitive ambience provided in his school, effective mentoring by school staff and oodles of hard work.

The World Scholar Cup is a competitive international event that seeks to bring in young talent from around the world to brainstorm on relevant issues. There are four main events that test the students’ expertise in debating, essay writing,a general knowledge quiz and a team quiz.
