The National Centre of Meteorology has predicted that the weather conditions prevailing since yesterday are expected to continue today. There may also be a nip in the air with the mercury dropping.
The NCM confirmed that the temperature today will be dropping by a significant fraction and difference in the highs may be between 8 to 10 degrees.
The NCM also said that the present conditions were influenced by a few factors such as the high pressure system that is associated with northwesterly winds that are anticipated to hold the UAE in its grip over the next few years. However, the skies will clear eventually and there will be a southerly flow that is triggered by a trough, which in turn activates conditions that mimic a storm.
The conditions have started being visible from early morning today, especially over Al Ain and the middle and the northern areas of the country. Al Ain witnessed extreme conditions with the winds speeding up to 70 kmph near the airport. Visibility was consequently reduced to less than even 600m.
