As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, Emirates Airlines has announced that the airline will be serving a whopping one milion dates to passengers. The dates will be served to passengers who are on-board as well as those on ground at Dubai Airport. This was announced by the airline on Wednesday.
Accordingly, more than 150,000 iftar boxes will be served as the Holy Month starts. The holy period of Ramadan is expected to commence from May 5. However, the start of the period will be dictated by the sighting of the moon.
Emirates Airlines banks upon the use of a special tool to gauge the appropriate time for the Imsak, which is the the time that the fasting starts and also calculates the time for Iftar, during flights. The aircraft’s altitude, latitude and longitude is used to calculate the Ramadan timings accurately, thus informing passengers of the impending fasting or fast-breaking time.
As the sun sets, the Captain of the flight informs the passengers of the beginning of the Iftar. If you are travelling on Emirates Airlines from June 4 to 6, expect to relish some deletable Eid sweets.
