In news that highlights the UAE’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainability, emissions from factories in Dubai have fallen by up to 47 per cent in the first half of 2018, in comparison to last year. The municipality announced that factories have drastically reduced offences after authorities had urged them to take measures to cut down on factors that could detrimentally affect the environment.
The improvements were reflected in the wake of the measures introduced by the municipality to closely observe the activities of the industries. Alia Al Harmoudi, director of the environmental department at Dubai Municipality, said that the municipality has also introduced the use of drones to help with the monitoring of industries.
The municipality has increased the monitoring of the service sectors and the industrial sector in proportion to the developments and growth in both. Industries have installed pollution and odour control units to comply with environment friendly regulations.
