As part of a strategy that seeks to boost its educational initiatives, the Gulf Medical University (GMU) has announced expansion plans which will include the launch of an Academic Thumbay University Hospital, two additional colleges and new educational programmes. The announcement came from the chancellor of GMU last week. The GMU is a prestigious establishment that figures among the top 50 medical educational institutions in the region.
Among the expansion plans are the addition of two new colleges, the Nursing College and College of Health Care Management and Health Economics. The university also seeks to include new higher educational programmes in nursing during the next academic year. A budget of Dh 1 billion has been allotted for the purpose of expansion.
The GMU has also initiated tie-ups with a number of educational institutions in what is seen an as attempt to boost the quality of students’ education. Moreover, the university is also banking upon the use of latest technologies to teach and train students in a more efficient manner and make them more market ready when it comes to employability.
