Fujairah road project to facilitate trade and cut traffic snarls

The traffic scene in Fujairah is all set to undergo drastic improvement thanks to a Dh 250 million road project that is expected to be completed by 2019. Other than bringing about a considerable decline in the traffic snarls that are often prevalent on busy stretches, the road will also drive up trade. The renovations on the Hamad Bin Abdullah Road started early last year and are projected to be concluded by August, 2019.

Residents and traders in the area have reacted positively to the upcoming new roads as it will woo more people to make investments in the area. The project will see the doubling of lanes on the arterial road and will also establish two tunnels and three sets of traffic lights in place of a roundabout.

According to the authorities at the transport department, the project will certainly increase the road capacity by a large fraction. Additionally, the new roads will also boost traffic safety and will make the flow of traffic smoother, a move that will benefit both motorists and pedestrians. The project forms a part of the broader strategy of the Ministry of Infrastructure Development investment programme.
