A young Pakistani expat residing in the UAE had no inkling of the impact that learning English would have on his life. Mohammed Haseebur Rehman started attending English learning classes with no particular intention, but the move has paid off rich dividends for him.
After he started demonstrating his new found prowess in English, Rehman’s company gave him a significant salary hike, in addition to a promotion. Rehman worked upon his English speaking skills after he started attending free classes that was offered by Smart Life, a non-profit organisation operating out of Dubai. The organization offers free weekend English classes for blue collar workers.
In fact, Rehman’s efforts were acknowledged as he was conferred the ‘Most Aspiring Employee of the Year’ award from Shaikh Nahayan Bin Mubarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Tolerance. This seemingly nondescript young man shared the podium with various eminent personalities. The ceremony was conducted by PEOPLE (Pakistani Executives Organization for the Promotion of Leadership and Entrepreneurship).
