Here is what you should not do while driving in Abu Dhabi

The Abu Dhabi Police has issued an advisory to motorists as the foggy season is imminent. Motorists are advised to not use hazard lights while driving on foggy or misty roads. The usage of hazard lights is fairly prevalent when visibility reduces but it can also throw other motorists off-guard who will be confused whether you intend to turn left or right.

The police have been consistently trying to raise awareness on the use of hazard lights and also imposed a fine of Dh 500 and four penalty points. Now, the police have invigorated this trend by urging motorists to use the caution lights only when making a stopover or in the event of a mishap on the road ahead.

Meanwhile, the Department of Transport has sanctioned a reduction in speed limits to 80 kph when the conditions of visibility reduce to 200 metres or less. Notices will be put up on the smart towers displaying the revised speed limits on designated spots on routes throughout the Emirate.
