His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, yesterday, attended the opening ceremony of the highly anticipated Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019. The event that is being held at the Zayed Sports City in the Capital city of the UAE is making its debut in the region. With over 7500 participants from about 192 countries, the UAE yet again makes a formidable demonstration of its capacity to host globally renowned events.
On his arrival, HM the King was warmly received by HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai and HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces at the Zayed City Stadium.
At the venue, HM the King and HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum held discussions on issues relevant to the region and topics that are of mutual interest to both nations. The opening ceremony included a sport parade, the raising of the flag and the conventional lighting of the lamp. The event was attended by HM the King, HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and several others senior officials.
