The ongoing IDEX has been an immensely successful event with over 104 defence contracts being signed with local and international companies. The IDEX 2019 that ended on Thursday, was conducted over a span of five days and saw defence deals worth more than Dh 20.35 billion being ushered in.
The companies in the UAE received around 35% of the deals while the foreign entities gained about 65% . This was in context of supplying fire arms, the provision of training and the buying of logistical supplies for the Armed Forces in the UAE.
The last two days of the event were most proactive in context of deals being signed, with almost 43 signed worth almost to the tune of Dh3.18 billion. The first three days saw contracts signed that were worth around Dh17 billion.
Meanwhile, the largest contract went to an American company, Raytheon, underlining an amount of Dh 5.7 billion. The company will procure rocket launchers for the Patriot system of the Air Force and Air Defence of the UAE.
Other major deals were awarded to the UAE-based Al Jasoor Heavy Vehicle for ARMA to supply armoured vehicles, the Australian company EOS Defence for the purchase of ground and naval systems and the American company, Kaman Precision for the purchase of FMU-152 for the Air Forc
