A government-approved platform, Oliv.com has come forward with an initiative that lets students aged 12 and above in the UAE sign up for part-time jobs or suitable internships. This platform is the first of its kind in the country and can be a great option for students who are looking to devote extra time to part-time jobs, volunteering or even paid internships. Non-paid internships can also form a great addition to a student’s resume.
Students who are willing to take advantage of the initiative can upload their CVs which can be in text or video form on to the platform’s website after which they will be considered for the applied position. Since 2016, Dubai has passed laws sanctioning youngsters to work in part-time positions after they get approval from their parents and potential employer.
Officials of the platform say that this initiative is part of a broader strategy to equip children to be geared for the future and be prepared for roles that may not even exist today. Oliv is spearheading this measure to high school students in order to get them interested in a career early on and also explore possible options.
