Abu Dhabi will be home to a massive literary event next week as the 29th annual edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF), is all set to unveil its offerings to the public.
The event is all set attract a horde of visitors and will showcase over 500,000 book titles. The event that is scheduled to kick start on April 24, will run on till April 30. The event is hosting around 1000 exhibitors who are representing around 50 countries.
At a press conference that was held at Manarat Al Saadiyat yesterday, the Undersecretary at the Department of Culture and Tourism, Abu Dhabi, said, “The ADIBF allows us to open up to other cultures during 2019, the Year of Tolerance. We are continually moving forwards towards a knowledge-based economy to create a culture of expertise here in the UAE”.
This year, India has been designated as the official guest of honor at the event. Around 40 publishing houses from India are expected to take part in the book fair. Smita Pant, the Deputy Chief of mission at the Indian embassy said, “The Indian pavilion will have something for everybody, we are going to be holding a lot of workshops for children, people of determination, and female authors”.
