This morning saw the build-up off major traffic congestion on the roads in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. Motorists were stuck on the road as they headed back to work and children went to school. Some of the major highways in Dubai were met with severe tailbacks. The worst affected commuters were those who were on their way from Sharjah to Dubai.
The Dubai-Sharjah road witnessed tailbacks that extended up to a whopping 3.5 km. Motorist were stalled on the road even after 9 am. Moreover, motorists heading towards the Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road while passing through the National Paints roundabout were in for an unpleasant traffic jam.
In Dubai city, if you want to get some where in time, it would be best to bypass the roundabouts in Zabeel Park, Satwa and Dubai International Financial Centre. Also avoid some inner roads in Karama and the first interchange on Sheikh Zayed Road. In the capital city of Abu Dhabi, there were reports of traffic congestion on Al Khaleej Al Arabi Road.
