Massive fire engulfs the iconic symbol of French culture

The world looked on in horror yesterday as huge flames consumed the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. The massive fire was so intense that it caused the spire of the monument to come crashing down, carrying with it a testament to the wonders of human craftsmanship and deep elements of heritage and culture, spanning centuries.

French firefighters immediately swung into action and with concerted efforts, managed to salvage the main structure of the Notre Dame. Meanwhile, French President, Emmanuel Macron, stood steadfastly by the nation in its dark hour and vowed to restore the historic edifice to its past glory.

The colossal fire caused a orange hue around the area, where horrified onlookers stood looking on in anguish as the flames devoured the 850-year old historical monument. The Gothic spire of the Notre Dame draws millions of visitors from around the world, earning it the tag of a UNESCO world heritage landmark.

Around 400 firefighters struggled to battle the flames and managed to bring it under control, thus saving the front towers. As the clock struck the midnight hour, the fire was well under control. Foul play or an act or arson was ruled out by French prosecutors and the incident was being treated as an involuntary fire.
