In a measure that will facilitate visa-free travel between the two countries, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) and the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs of Mexico have initiated a diplomatic memorandum of understanding. The MoU states that citizens who hold regular passports will be able to travel visa free.
The diplomatic MoU which was issued by the MoFAIC, was handed to Carlos de Icaza, Mexican Under-Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs by Ahmed Hatem Al Menhali, UAE Ambassador to Mexico. Subsequently, Al Menhali was handed the MoU which was issued by the Mexican Foreign Ministry from de Icaza.
The authorities hailed the historic move and said that it was a sign of the positive times to come and heralds a new bilateral phase of cooperation between the two nations. The officials also praised the leaders of both countries and wished them success and prosperity for the future. The ceremony saw attendance by various legal and consular officials.
