In a measure that included additional areas under the paid parking zone, the Ajman municipality announced that parking in Al Hassan Al Basri street near Al Yasmin Building will now be charged. The new rules are expected to be effective from Saturday, July 28. The time slots for parking will be between 8 am and 1 pm during the first half of the day and from 5 pm to 9 pm during the latter half.
To facilitate speedy implementation of the new rules, paid parking machines have already been installed at the designated spots and will be functional from Saturday. The director of Roads and Infrastructure Department at Ajman Municipality, Abdullah Mustafa Al Marzouqi, said that the measure was adapted in consideration of reducing traffic snarls and also to cut down instances where people take undue advantage of the parking slots by keeping their vehicles parked for an inordinate period of time. He also added that there will be periodic checks by vehicle inspectors to ensure that the rules are being effectively implemented.
Any motorist wishing to make use of the paid parking will have the convenience of paying the parking fee by use of a smartphone app or by using the user-friendly street machines. The new move promises to ensure easy access of parking space for residents, visitors and shoppers.
