The Sharjah Municipality has denied any increase in the charges levied on parking in the emirate. The clarification from the municipality came in the wake of misleading reports that indicated a rise in parking fees.
The Al Nahda Area will see the opening of 4500 new paid parking spaces this year. Meanwhile, the cost for public parking in Sharjah is still Dh2 on an hourly basis. The parking charges increase to Dh5 for two hours and Dh8 for 3 hours.
The Sharjah Municipality has also initiated the launch of a new feature that lends motorists the convenient option of booking a parking space for more than one hour through a simple SMS. The customers of Du and Etisalat are eligible for the scheme.
