In heartening news for mountain camping enthusiasts or even those who seek an adventurous weekend getaway, Ras Al Khaimah will soon have a new luxury mountain camping at Jebel Jais. A top official of the RAK Tourism Development Authority confirmed the news while adding that Jebel Jais will also see the addition of a survival academy that will open up avenues like hiking and mountain biking trails.
The 37-room luxury mountain camp will be the first of its kind in the Emirate and is expected to be functional by the end of next year. The survival academy is also anticipated to open in the third quarter of next year with the construction of 64.72 Km of hiking and mountain trails. This project is part of a broader campaign to develop the tourist infrastructure in the Emirate considering the burgeoning number of international visitors.
It has also been decided to hike up the availability of hotel rooms in the Emirate. Future projects could see up to 5,600 additional rooms being added to the existing 6,500. By 2022, the administration hopes to add up to 12,000 hotel rooms. The administration is hoping to capitalize on the wave of global adventure tourism, a sector that is growing by leaps and bounds.
