In a measure that will provide considerable relief to residents, those holding cards of the Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD) can now choose the option of paying their due traffic fines in installments. What’s more, the installments will be free from hovering interest rates in the wake of an agreement signed between the bank and the Dubai Police.
Those who want to pay the fines in installments can do so in three, six, nine or 12 moths. However, the minimum fine amount should be Dh 500. The MoU between the bank and the Dubai Police was signed by Bernd van Linder, CEO of CBD and Brigadier-General Saif bin Abed, director-general of finance at the Dubai Police. Other officials were also present during the ceremony.
The Dubai Police has initiated the measure as part of an approach to lend greater convenience to customers and also gives them flexibility to conduct transactions in a smoother manner. The strategy is also in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which seeks to propel Dubai into the realm of smart cities thus bringing happiness to residents.
