After a series of unfortunate drowning incidents in the UAE, the Police in Ras Al Khaimah have spearheaded a campaign that seeks to spread awareness among parents and children about the potential hazards when swimming and also how to tackle unforeseen emergencies.
The two-day event which saw a large attendance by children and adults was conducted at popular beaches across the Emirates and involved comprehensive lectures on safety tips and emergency first aid like CPR.
The campaign has been launched in a bid to lower the number of accidental drowning among children, instances of which have been unfortunately witnessed in the Emirate during the last few months. The move also includes a measure to enhance safety by stationing life guards at Al Mahad public beach. Parents have enthusiastically welcomed the initiative and are amenable to the idea of launching more such measures.
