In developments that would bring a great measure of cheer to the residents of Sharjah, it has been announced that the power tariff has been slashed for flats in freehold or residential households. The move has been made under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
In the wake of the directives issued by His Highness, the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa) has subsequently announced the reduction in power tariff for residents. The new rule affects all the buildings owned by both non-locals or expats. Thus, now the power tariff has been cut by 37.7%. The original fixed tariff lingered on 45 fils per kilowatt.
The reduction in power tariff is effective from January 1, 2019, and will thus be duly indicated in the monthly bill for residents. This move comes in the wake of the Federal Electricity and Water Authority, FEWA, reducing the power tariff from 45 to 28 fils per kilowatt.
