The authorities in Dubai city will open a new toll gate on Sheikh Zayed Road which will be functional from Wednesday. This will be the seventh gate in Dubai and will be located near Jebel Ali and just before the intersection at Yalayis. The Salik checkpoint will bring with it many benefits.
The Salik gate is projected to generate a huge amount by way of revenues which can be subsequently utilized to boost transport infrastructure. Drivers passing through the gate will be charged Dh 4 every time they ply on the route.
The Salik gate is also expected to reduce the flow of traffic to the Sheikh Zayed Road by as much as 25 per cent. Moreover, this will also encourage the residents to utilize public transport. This measure was introduced as the RTA’s efforts to spread out the flow of traffic to other areas like Emirates Road, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Road and Al Khail Road
