Sharjah Police to fire Iftar cannons during Ramadan

Sharjah Police to fire Iftar cannons at 10 locations with two more on the way to cover additional areas this year. The cannons are inspected and prepped to ensure its readiness and have satisfied all security and safety procedures for firing throughout the month of Ramadan. This old custom of announcing Iftar time by firing cannons brings a large crowd of spectators, including non-Muslims, at the places where cannons are fired to announce iftar time.

The proceedings will be telecasted live on Sharjah TV. The 10 locations in the emirate where Iftar cannons will be fired are: near Sharjah Cultural Palace, Al Noor Mosque at Sharjah Waterfront, Al Mirgab, Al Juraina, near Al Sari Mosque, Majlis Mughaider in Al Talla, Shaikh Rashid Bin Ahmad Al Qasimi Mosque in Dibba Al Hisn, Bukhari Mosque at Khorfakkan Corniche, Tarif Mosque in Kalba, and near Al Dhaid police station.
