The Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, took to twitter to praise the efforts of the two Emirati astronauts who are currently undergoing training in Russia. The Crown Prince tweeted that the two young men were a source of inspiration and given new reasons for the nation to be proud. He also said that the achievements of the young men heralded a new beginning in national development.
Sheikh Hamdam also highlighted the role of the MBRSC in advocating the goals of the country in taking huge strides in space technology. He said that the centre was instrumental in promoting the ‘UAE Space Programme’ and the ‘National Space Agency’’. Sheikh Hamdam also conveyed his best wishes to the astronauts and said that this goes to prove that Emiratis can excel in any chosen field.
The two astronauts are presently in Russia and are being put through intensive training schedules at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre. After the completion of training, one of them will be part of the team that will head to the International Space Station (ISS) on April 5, 2019.
