The UAE has presented the greatest examples of respect for women over the years, caring about their affairs, empowering them, and strengthening their stature as an effective partner in developing the country and building the community with men. In a statement marking the annual International Women’s Day on March 8th, H.H. Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of The Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, stressed that the success of Emirati women, which contributed to the country’s position in leading global competitiveness indexes while reflecting the support and encouragement of the wise leadership, led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and his brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, with the monitoring of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
Emirati women have empowered in the area of international competitiveness under the ongoing support of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF). The “Mother of the UAE,” Sheikha Fatima, has supported the Emirati women in many areas including education, science, the environment, culture, society and volunteering while encouraging their creativity, innovation and overall accomplishment.
Sheikha Hind honoured the mothers of the martyrs, who represent the highest form of belonging and loyalty to the nation. “On the International Women’s Day, we recall the UAE’s humanitarian and relief efforts, to protect mothers and children affected by wars and disasters, who faced displacement and homelessness. This makes us proud of the UAE, which was and will remain a supporter and champion of the weak, regardless of their crisis or ordeal,” she added.
