An official at the Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company has said that the ultra-modern technologies of 5G and eSIMs may soon be available in the UAE. This will be an added bonus to the robust telecom infrastructure of the country and will propel it into the league of global nations that have the technology.
It is expected that by the end of October eSIMs will be announced for the newly launched iPhone models. The eSIM is essentially an embedded SIM and advocates the use of the phone without a physical SIM card. This sort of technology is already compatible with the Apple Watch Series 3 in the UAE. As of now, eSIMs for the new iPhones are available only across 10 countries. Telecom firms in the country have been consistently working to provide the technology to users as soon as possible.
Du is expected to be the first mobile service provider in the region to come up with eSIM service. Technology experts say that artificial intelligence and Internet of Things are evolving constantly and soon may be used in mobile phones.
