Special Olympics athletes welcomed in Dubai

As the date for the Special Olympics scheduled to be held in the UAE approaches, the athletes who are participating in the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019, were warmly received in Dubai under the ambit of the Hosting Town Programme.

The delegations of the Special Olympics were welcomed by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council. He said that the hosting of the games in the UAE is a new milestone for the nation under the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Shaikh Hamdam also added that the hosting of the games was yet another testament to the capability of the nation to conduct important and globally acclaimed events in a successful manner. He appreciated the role of Dubai in the games through the Hosting Town Programme, scheduled to be held from March 7 to 11.

While welcoming the delegation, Shaikh Hamdam said, “Dubai’s contribution to the event is a source of pride, and we are eager to welcome guests from all over the world. We have spared no efforts to ensure the success of this phase of the event. We are confident that the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 will be a great success.”

The prgramme is aimed at raising awareness about the inclusive nature of society in the UAE and its constant endeavour to amplify the nation’s values that foster harmony and peace.
