After a hiatus of a few decades, the French language is all set to make a comeback into the curriculum of Emirati schools. Since 1988, French has not been taught in the UAE’s schools, however the revival of the language in the curriculum will now lend an opportunity for students to expand their horizon of language skills.
French will be initially introduced in a pilot phase and will potentially be introduced to all public schools in the future. The Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, Noura Al Kaabi, announced the latest educational initiative at the UAE-France Cultural Dialogue at Louvre Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.
The bid to increase the cultural ties between UAE and France will also involve a range of measures that will bring talents from both the countries to the fore and will also echo the robust bilateral ties that both the nations have shared over the years. Moreover, focus will also be on the areas of cultural heritage, artificial intelligence and arts among others.
