In a boost to the space ambitions of the UAE, the Mohammad Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) has said that the Hope Probe to Mars may be launched in 2020 between July 14 and August 3. The launch will be conducted in Japan.
The Hope Probe was designed and built at the MBRSC and is hexagonal in shape. The main mission of the probe is to study the planet Mars and bring out various aspects of the atmosphere that surrounds Mars.
The timing of the launch has been carefully calculated and chosen so as to optimise the chances of a successful launch. In case this timeframe is missed, the launch will have to wait for another two years thus losing out on valuable time. The Probe is presently in its testing phase. The scheduled launch will take place at the Tanegashima Space Centre on an MHI-H2A rocket. This rocket is similar to the one that was instrumental in launching the KhalifaSat last year.
