The Pope and Grand Imam sign Special Olympics ball

In support of the Special Olympics that is soon scheduled to unfold in the capital city of Abu Dhabi, His Holiness Pope Francis, Head of the Catholic Church, and His Eminence Dr. Ahmad Al Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al Azhar Al Sherif, demonstrated their avid support for the event by signing a ‘Special Olympics Ball’.

Also present during the event was His Highness Shaikh Mohamad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The Special Olympics will be unveiled in the capital from March 8 to 22 and will be the cynosure of a global audience. Paralympic athlete Shaikha Shaikha Al Qasimi was received by Pope Francis in Abu Dhabi after which she presented the ball.

Meanwhile, His Holiness Pope Francis and Dr. Ahmad Al Tayeb conveyed their best wishes to the participants of the event and hoped that the event would be a huge success bringing accolades and happiness to the people of determination.
