Tips to ensure a safe trip for Haj pilgrims
As the annual Haj trip to Makkah is set to commence, doctors in the Emirates are advising pilgrims to adapt certain precautions and measures to ensure that they have a safe trip. Doctors are of the opinion that it would be advisable to put in preventive measures rather than seeking a cure for a condition that can be easily avoided.
The importance of getting vaccinated before the start of the trip is an important precaution that doctors emphasize on. This includes vaccinations for seasonal flu and meningococcal which should be administered at least a fortnight before the start of the trip. The vaccinations can a go a long way in protecting pilgrims from potential diseases.
Doctors further stressed that the elderly and those with chronic diseases should have their health condition evaluated before embarking on the trip. Furthermore, they should also carry a card that displays their personal details in case of an emergency.
