Traffic eases along key route leading to Sharjah

Traffic leading from Dubai to Sharjah along the Emirates Road has considerably eased up thanks to the opening of an upgraded interchange that now provides a convenient connection with Maleiha Road. The interchange was thrown open to traffic on Sunday thus bringing down the instances of tailbacks from either direction. Moreover, the three-lane ramp has gone a long way in organizing the peak-hour traffic leading towards Sharjah.

Before the opening of the upgrade, Emirates Road witnessed traffic snarls on a regular basis, sometimes having tailbacks that stretched several kilometers. Motorists were pleasantly surprised to encounter a road with no congestions and see the opening of the upgrade as a way to save a lot of time while commuting between the two cities.

The Al badi interchange is a vital link that provides easy access to all the emirates. While previously it had a capacity of about 9000 vehicles per hour, now it can accommodate almost double the number of vehicular traffic. It offers a direct route to Sharjah as well as segregating the traffic heading towards the northern emirates.
