Traffic routes set to be diverted in UAE

The UAE will see some diversions and closures across its routes for a few days, prompting the police to issue an advisory to motorists to exercise caution while navigating the routés and to explore alternate roads. The Abu Dhabi Police said in a statement that the Sheikh Zayed Tunnel will be closed to traffic from August 31, in the wake of maintenance work being carried out in the vicinity. Therefore, traffic on the route will be diverted to other routes.

The police said that motorists should be aware of the routes that are closed down and should be equipped to take another more suitable road. The closure of the road will come into effect from August 12 and is expected to continue till August 31. The Department of Transport (DoT) in Abu Dhabi has also closed a lane on the left-hand side of the Sultan Bin Khalifa road. In addition, the DoT also said that the left lane near Khalifa Park will be closed till September 1.

Meanwhile commuters in Dubai faced snarls on the Al Khalil and E44 Ras Al Khor Roads, while traffic was choked on the road from Al Nahda to Dubai.
